About 140 billion rubles will be invested in the fixed assets of the Sverdlovsk region's military-industrial complex before 2016. The regional government told RusBusinessNews that the Ural Electrochemical Integrated Plant, OJSC; the Uralvagonzavod Research and Production Corporation, OJSC; the Urals Optical & Mechanical Plant Production Association, OJSC; and the Kalinin Machine-Building Plant, OJSC are all busy upgrading their production facilities.

In 2011, about 190 billion rubles' worth of state defense contracts were fulfilled for the Central Urals, which was 39% more than in 2010. In 2012, the Ural Transport Machinery Plant, OJSC received twice as many orders, Serov Mechanical Plant, CJSC saw a jump of 110%, 2.1 times, the Verkhnyaya Salda Federal State-Owned Chemical Tank Plant - 150%, and the Central Research Institute of Machine Building - 300%.
