AVTOVAZ will continue to buy milled metal products from UMMC in 2012

The A.K. Serov Metallurgical Plant, OJSC (part of the ferrous-metals division of Ural Mining and Metallurgical Company) provided AVTOVAZ, OJSC with 13,000 tons of milled metal products in 2011. As a result of their efforts, in the third quarter of this year the plant was classified as a "reliable" supplier to the Russian automotive giant.

UMMC's press office told RusBusinessNews that in early December the two companies signed a memorandum of cooperation for 2012. Milled metal products from the Serov plant are used to manufacture various components and parts for engines, brake systems, and fasteners used in automobile chassis. After the technology of the steel smelting and casting was modified in 2011 and a change was made to the procedure for calibrating the milled products, the quality of those products doubled.
