Enterprises of the Russian Copper Company demonstrate record-high performance

MOSCOW.

In 2011, enterprises of the Russian Copper Company demonstrated record-high performance. The flagships were Karabashmed, CJSC, the Kyshtym Copper Electrolyte Plant, CJSC, and the Aktyubinsk Copper Company, LLP.

The preliminary results show that Karabashmed produced more than 80 thousand tons of blister copper - a 21% increase as compared to 2010. The gold output increased to 2.6 tons (+6%), silver - to 70 tons (+26%).

The representatives of the press-service of the Russian Copper Company have informed RusBusinessNews that the output growth resulted from fundamental reforms performed by the company. The company's program for development till 2016 includes construction and further upgrading of metallurgical, power and chemical facilities of Karabashmed. In 2014, the second sulfuric acid plant will be put into operation. It will result in complete utilization of sulfurous anhydride and a 1.5 increase in the output of the enterprise.

The Russian Copper Company has invested about 7.8 billion rubles in modernization of Karabashmed. The costs for 2012 are estimated at about 3.8 billion rubles. The total investment will exceed 15 billion rubles for the period from 2004 to 2016.

In 2011, the Kyshtym Copper Electrolyte Plant increased the output of copper rod to 99 thousand tons (+57%), copper cathodes - to 115.6 thousand tons (+2%). The enterprise produced more than 100 tons of silver and 3.7 tons of gold - by 0.5% and 14% more than in the previous year. In 2011, more than 144 million rubles were invested in upgrading of the Kyshtym Copper Electrolyte Plant. This year the amount of investment is going to increase to 170 million rubles.

In 2012, the Russian Copper Company is planning to allocate about 19 billion rubles for development and modernization of its enterprises in the Chelyabinsk Region. The region hosts seven out of ten mining and metallurgical enterprises - members of the Russian Copper Company production holding (Karabashmed and the Kyshtym Copper Electrolyte Plant, the Alexandrinsk Ore and Mining Company and Verkhneuralskaya Ruda, Mauksky Mine, Mikheyevsky and Tominsky Mining and Processing Integrated Works).

The Aktyubinsk Copper Company can also boast high production performance in 2011. Within the previous year the company produced 53.7 thousand tons of copper concentrate - by 34% more than in 2010. The output of the associated products rose by 63% - the company produced 10.9 tons of silver concentrate. In 2012, the output is planned to increase by 20%.
