VSMPO-AVISMA is involved in the creation of the new A320 NEO

The aircraft manufacturer Airbus has suggested that VSMPO-AVISMA Corporation, OJSC take part in the creation of a new aircraft model, the A320 NEO. The parties have come to an agreement regarding the supply of a small amount of titanium forgings for this medium-haul airplane.

The corporation's press office told RusBusinessNews that the mathematical models of the titanium parts have been finalized and a schedule has been drawn up for their delivery. If Airbus is satisfied with the quality of the products, there will be many more orders for VSMPO in the future.

Airbus plans to equip its medium-haul aircraft with new engines from CFM and Pratt & Whitney, which will use 15% less fuel than the current A320 model. The updated airliners should be on the market by 2015. Airbus has already received orders to manufacture approximately 1,000 of the planes.
