VSMPO-AVISMA has increased its exports of titanium products

11.03.2012 — News

SVERDLOVSK REGION.

Between October and December of 2011, the VSMPO-AVISMA Corporation, OJSC, exported 4,417 tons of titanium products (not counting shipments to CIS countries), which was an increase of almost 5% over the third quarter of last year.

The corporation's press office told RusBusinessNews that sales within Russia and to the CIS countries also grew by 0.05%, up to 2,027 tons.

The high demand for titanium products comes from the rapid expansion of the aerospace industry. In 2011, sales of aircraft on the global market surpassed the totals from previous years.

VSMPO-AVISMA is one of the Boeing Company's main suppliers of forgings and titanium parts. The two firms created a joint venture called Ural Boeing Manufacturing (UBM) in Verkhnyaya Salda two and a half years ago.

Boeing plans to supply its customers with 30,900 new airliners worth 3.6 trillion US dollars by 2029, which will include 960 aircraft for Russia and the CIS countries.
