SVERDLOVSK REGION

A delegation from the Middle Urals is taking part in the SITM-2012 international tourism exhibit, which opens November 15 in Shanghai.

The region's tourism potential is being introduced under a single brand name - "Great Ural". Ural Line Tour, AVS Forsage Plus, the International Institute of Tourism, and Ural Airlines have all created displays. The government of the Sverdlovsk region told RusBusinessNews that the members of the delegation will take part in a Russian-Chinese forum on cooperation in the tourism industry, as well as a closing ceremony marking the end of the Year of Russian tourism in China.

According to experts, the exhibition could result in joint tourism projects with China, which will increase the influx of tourists to the Sverdlovsk region. Foreign travelers are growing increasingly more interested in this region, which was visited by 49,000 tourists from abroad in 2010, and more than 81,000 in 2011. The gold and gem deposits in Rezh and the gold mine in Beryozovsky are popular tourist destinations. Many visitors are also eager to see the site where the last Russian royal family, Czar Nicholas II along with his wife and children, met their end.
