A Russian-Czech facility to manufacture metalworking machinery is scheduled to open in Ekaterinburg in the spring of 2013. The plant is being built by the Czech company TOS VARNSDORF, in cooperation with Ural-based Kovosvit-Rus, LLC.

After being certified, the new company will assemble 20 horizontal-boring machines and 8-10 portal-milling units per year during the first phase. Sales volume will total 2 billion rubles. Components for the machines will be produced in the future, raising the localization of the manufacturing to 60%.

The regional government told RusBusinessNews that there was increased demand for metalworking machinery in the Urals, with its concentration of defense companies and heavy machine building. At a later date, TOS VARNSDORF is prepared to issue the Sverdlovsk firm with a batch of orders from the Urals-Siberian and Far Eastern regions of Russia.
