27.04.2009 — News
THE SVERDLOVSK OBLAST.
The Federal District Laboratory for the Quality Control of Medicines will open in Ekaterinburg in the end of 2009. This will ensure an additional protection against fake medicines.
In accordance with the decision of the Ministry of Health and Social Development similar laboratories will open in all seven Federal Districts. European Commission's GMP specialists and Russian experts will take part in the commissioning of the labs. International GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice for medicinal products) standards define the parameters for each production stage of a drug.
The regional department of RosZdravNadzor [Federal Service on Surveillance in Healthcare and Social Development of Russian Federation] informed RusBusinessNews that in 2008 only two batches of fake medicines were found in the Sverdlovsk region. Furthermore, all batches of medicines which come to the region are checked by the regional quality control centre. The medicines can only be released for sale in pharmacies after a certificate of conformity has been obtained.
