CHELYABINSK REGION

The Finnish firms Metso Minerals and Outotec are getting ready to launch Russian Copper Company's biggest investment project - the Mikheevsky mining and processing integrated works. Russian and foreign experts are installing the needed equipment in the industrial complex.

RCC's public relations office told RusBusinessNews that by the end of spring 2013, the largest flotation cells, with 300-cubic-meter chambers, will be assembled. The crushing equipment in the cyclic-continuous facility is scheduled to begin operating by fall. That machinery will include a PGMKII60-89 gyratory crusher capable of processing 4,000 tons of ore per hour, a 1,400-meter main conveyor belt, and two SAG mills with 11-meter diameters.

The construction of this mining and processing integrated works at the Mikheevskoe porphyry copper ore deposit is a project of federal significance. It is the largest, completely new mining facility to be built anywhere in the former Soviet Union. About $296.2 million USD out of an approximate total of $780 million has already been invested. Russian Copper Company plans to begin operations at the Mikheevsky mining and processing integrated works by late 2013.
