The Tyumen Parliament Will Lobby for Fortum

30.04.2009 — News

THE TYUMEN OBLAST.

The Tyumen Oblast parliament is ready to help Finland's Fortum upgrade local power plants. Two investment projects that Fortum OАО (formerly TGK-10) is implementing in the Tyumen region are slowed down by equipment vendors.

Thus, Fortum OAO is to launch a 100 MW steam power turbine at the Tobolsk power station in 2009. The turbine producer, Uralskiy Turbinniy Zavod, delays delivery for over 3 months now.A 190/220 MW gas-and-steam power plant is to be launched at the Tyumen TPP-1 in December 2010. The timely launch is jeopardized by Kazankompressormash OAO that delays delivery of the booster compressor needed for the gas-and-steam turbine.

As the energy company representatives informed RusBusinessNews, the Tyumen MP's are going to influence equipment vendors through the State Duma and the Federation Council.

Fortum OAO operates in the Urals and West Siberia. Since March 2008, Finland's Fortum is its majority shareholder with a 93.4% stake. The total generating capacity of Fortum OAO and its affiliates is about 3,000 MW of electricity and 13,600 Gcal/hour of heat.

The company is constructing several new power plants in the Urals Federal District. Once up and running, they will provide additional 2,270 MW of generating capacity. The total investments into these projects are estimated at 2.5 billion Euro.
