Sverdlovsk Oblast Industrial Sector Posted Losses in Excess of 1 Billion U.S. Dollars

THE SVERDLOVSK OBLAST.

In Q1 2009, 46.2% of the Sverdlovsk Oblast industrial companies posted losses that totaled 36.8 billion Roubles (over 1 billion U.S. Dollars).

As the Oblast Government officials informed RusBusinessNews, the losses are at their highest for the recent years. Total debt of the industrial sector has reached 387.4 billion Roubles, including 31.8 billion Roubles past due.

Against the backdrop of crisis in metallurgy and machine-building, the agricultural sector is showing positive dynamics; in January-March 2009, the Sverdlovsk oblast agriculture grew 4.9% y.o.y.
