The Urals Business People are Hopeful of Getting Olympic Contracts in Sochi

30.04.2009 — News

THE SVERDLOVSK OBLAST.

The Sverdlovsk Oblast companies are getting ready to compete for Olympic contracts in Sochi. A list of 300 local companies has been filed with the Olympstroy State-Owned Corporation.

As the regional builders' union representatives told RusBusinessNews, major Urals developers already tried entering the Sochi real estate market, but only few succeeded. Almost all of them faced legislative barriers and corruption among the local authorities.

Earlier on, the Ekaterinburg's Penetron-Russia Group won a tender to supply waterproofing materials to Sochi. The Smaller Hockey Bowl will be constructed by Chelyabinsk Mine-Building Enterprise ZAO. The construction project for this 7,000-seat stadium will be developed by the Urals Architecture and Construction Research and Development Institute (Maksi-Group OAO).

The Urals companies can reinforce their position as Yevgeniy Rogoza from Chelyabinsk is appointed Deputy Minister for Regional Development of the Russian Federation. He will be supervising construction of the Olympic infrastructure objects on behalf of this ministry.
