Chelyabinsk Forge Plant Knocks Down European Competitors

The crisis that hit European competitors can help the OAO Chelyabinsk Forge and Press Plant strengthen its positions in the Old World. Chelyabinsk industrialists found new markets for their products at the international exhibition in Hannover (Hannover Messe-2009).

Sales of European forge companies have more than halved after the largest car makers demanded a considerable price reduction. Some of the companies have not been able to withstand competition and gone bankrupt. The crisis has provided ample opportunities for the Russian producers to enter Europe. Chelyabinsk Forge and Press Plant (ChKPZ) offers more than 1 thousand types of products to the foreign consumers at the price 25-30% lower than that of the European producers.

The plant officials informed RusBusinessNews that in April 2009 ChKPZ became the first plant in Russia to be awarded the "reliable supplier" status of by the German company ZF, a world leading supplier of automotive components. After the audit the OAO Chelyabinsk Forge and Press Plant has been authorized to supply its products to any ZF subdivision. Cooperation with ZF will enable the Chelyabinsk plant to keep its forge production running at full capacity.
