Uralsvyazinform Posts Quarterly Revenues In Excess Of 10 Billion Roubles

In Q1 2009, Uralsvyazinform OAO recorded a net income of 981 million roubles, showing a 22.6% y.o.y. increase. The revenues of the company- the Urals affiliate of Svyazinvest OAO - has grown by 1.5% to reach 10.025 billion roubles.

As the company representatives told RusBusinessNews, Internet access and local telephony services were the key growth drivers. The number of broadband Internet subscribers grew by 71.1% over January-March, while the traffic grew 6.8 times to reach 17 TB. Uralsvyazinform's revenues in this segment grew by 34.2% and reached 1.53 billion roubles.

Uralsvyazinform's fixed telephony customer base in seven Russian regions has reached 3.724 million subscribers (+0.5% y.o.y.). Fixed telephony services earned the company 2.63 billion roubles (+2.3% y.o.y.). The mobile customer base reached 5.8 million subscribers as of April 1, showing a 11.5% increase against Q1 2008.

As far as investments are concerned, in Q1 2009 Uralsvyazinform spent 288 million roubles (+ 37.2% y.o.y.). 57% of the total amount were invested in developing the mobile network and promoting new services.

The biggest Urals telecom provider operates in the Sverdlovsk, Chelyabinsk, Tymen, and Kurgan oblasts, Perm Krai, the Khanty-Mansiysk and Yamalo-Nenets autonomous okrugs. A 53% stake in Uralsvyazinform OAO is held by Svyazinvest OAO.
