Uralelectromed has increased its production of selenium

Uralelectromed, OJSC (part of Ural Mining and Metallurgical Company) has completed the renovation of its production line that manufactures selenium. That division's capacity has been expanded from 110 to 130 tons per year.

UMMC's press office told RusBusinessNews that for 4 years the division has been upgrading the equipment throughout its technical layout of instruments and has installed an automation system to control the manufacturing process. Major changes affected the technology for purifying solutions as well as the intermediate products created during selenium production.

A year ago the business opened a new division to manufacture another rare metal - tellurium - as a result of which the business's production capacity has increased from 30 to 40 tons per year

Currently UMMC is responsible for 3-5% of the world's production of selenium and tellurium. The products meet the international requirements under REACH.
