UMMC has started copper ore underground mining at the Safyanovskoye deposit

The Ural Mining and Metallurgical Company (UMMC) has commissioned the first start-up complex at the mine of Safyanovskaya Med, OJSC. The deep layers of the Safyanovskoye copper-sulfide deposit located in the Sverdlovsk Region can be reached now. The reserves of the section are estimated at 11 million tons of copper ore.

The representatives of the UMMC Press Service have informed RusBusinessNews that in 2015 the expected output from the underground mine totals 140 thousand tons of ore. The rated output of 500 thousand tons of ore will be reached in 2017.

The experts forecast that ore from deep layers of the Safyanovskoye deposit can be mined for at least 25 years.

UMMC has invested about 3 billion rubles in the project. The construction of the mine took less than 5 years.
