In autumn 2015, Uralelectromed, OJSC (a UMMC subsidiary) is launching lead production based on secondary raw materials. The 848.5 million ruble project will be implemented in the metallurgical facility of the subdivision "Non-Ferrous Alloy Production", which is located in Verkh-Neivinsky settlement (Sverdlovsk Region).

The representatives of the UMMC Press Service have informed RusBusinessNews that at the moment the primary equipment is being installed; the company is planning to produce up to 20 thousand tons of refined lead, grades C0 and C1, a year, thus entering the list of Russian largest lead producers.

The production feedstock base (about 75%) is represented by lead cakes containing up to 40% of the metal. These are intermediate products resulting from processing of zinc concentrate and dust at the UMMC copper smelters.
