VSMPO-AVISMA received 30 thousand tons of titanium raw stock from Australia

The VSMPO-AVISMA Corporation, OJSC, received its first batch of titaniferous concentrate from Australia.

As RusBusinessNews was informed by the Press Service of the Corporation, 30 thousand tons of ilmenite were delivered by a dry-cargo ship to Novorossiysk where the bulk batch was split into smaller batches of 1,800 tons to be further delivered by river-sea vessels along the Volga and the Kama to Berezniki.

VSMPO-AVISMA General Director Mikhail Voevodin informed that the Corporation had diversified its sources of ilmenite supply (ilmenite is the primary titanium raw stock) to protect itself against political and economic risks. In 2015, the Corporation is purchasing approximately 40% of the raw stock from Ukraine, 40% – from Australia; other sources account for the balance. The concentrate is purchased from 10 suppliers representing 10 licensed deposits.
