Polished Glass Production Will Be Launched in the Urals

THE CHELYABINSK OBLAST.

The first polished glass production in the Asian part of Russia will be launched in Magnitogorsk at OOO MagniZa plant.

The first construction stage started on 16 June 2009 is mapped out for plane and shape glass production. Italian production line for multilayer glass (triplex) production will be commissioned soon. Depending on the thickness of the produced glass MagniZa can manufacture 18 thousand square metres of double glass panes, 12 thousand square metres of hardened glass and up to 18 thousand square metres of triplex glass per month.

MagniZa representatives told RusBusinessNews that the second construction stage of the planned, which is currently being designed, will have polished sheet glass production facilities and will help establish a vertically integrated production.

According to the Russian Union of Glass Production Enterprises the demand for sheet glass in Russia may reach 300 million square metres by 2015. Currently, six manufacturers located in the European part of the country account for 90% of the market.
