Russian Metallurgists May Increase Exports by 5-10%

In April-June 2009 OJSC Maxi-Group shipped 238 thousand tons of rolled section steel which is 6% lower than the second quarter indicator last year. Stock steel parts shipments dropped by 53% to 65 thousand tons.  

to the increase of shipments by 67% in comparison to January-March. On the whole the share of Middle-East countries in Russia’s exports of metal is 30-35%.

By the results of the first half a year the Russian steel exports amount to almost 13 million tons. Experts think that in July-December the total export of metal products will either remain at the present level or will grow by 5-10%.

Viktor Khristenko, the Russian Minister for Industry and Trade, said that at the time of financial crisis Russian metallurgists managed to optimise the structure of exports, cutting down the proportion of semifinished materials. As of June 2009 the proportion of stock parts in exports amounts to 52% and the share of rolled section steel has grown to 15%.
