The Throughput Capacity of Ekaterinburg Airport Koltsovo Will Double in May 2009

The opening of the new international terminal in May 2009 will double the throughput capacity of Ekaterinburg airport Koltsovo. Moreover, the renovation of one of the two runways which is close to completion will enable the airport to land the heaviest of the existing aircraft. Airlines are planning to increase the number of flights from Ekaterinburg to foreign destinations this summer. For instance, the number of charter flights to Antalya will grow from the last year's 20 to 27, to Barcelona from 3 to 5, and to Istanbul from 3 to 4.

At the moment there are direct flights from Еkaterinburg to 29 international destinations. Lufthansa, Finnair, Austrian, Czech Airlines, Turkish Airlines, and Malev offer regular services to the capital of the Urals Federal District.
