"Uralkali" Has 2009 Results

THE PERM KRAI. JSC Uralkali has summarized the results of production work in 2009. The production of commercial potassium chloride has amounted to 2 million 621 thousand tons having dropped by 45.3% compared to the previous year.

The company informed RusBusinessNews that the cause for the reduction of production volumes is the significant drop ion the global demand for potassium fertilisers at the time of the global financial crisis. As a result of the reduction in the potassium chloride consumption in certain markets Uralkali had to work with just partial capacity utilization during all last year.

However, in the end of 2009 the demand for potassium fertilisers gradually began to recover. In November Uralkali produced about 307,6 thousand tons of commercial potassium chloride which is 44.6% more than in November 2008. In December the production amounted to about 199.4 thousand tons which is 53.5% higher than the December figure for the previous year.
