VSMPO-AVISMA is going to buy raw materials on Asian and African markets

The VSMPO-AVISMA Corporation, OJSC, is diversifying its sources of raw materials. Vietnam can become one of its strategic partners.

The Vietnamese Government intends to start developing the titanic iron ore deposit and to build a titanium sponge manufacturing factory. As it was stated by Mikhail Voevodin, General Director of VSMPO-AVISMA, the corporation is willing to take part in implementation of this project as a research and technology adviser as well as an equipment supplier and a manufacturing partner. He admitted that long-term plans may address titanium sponge supplies to VSMPO.

The corporation representatives have informed "RusBusinessNews" that in 2011, VSMPO-AVISMA started purchasing titanic iron ore concentrate in India and Africa. The corporation has to import raw materials due to the reduced output at the mines of its main supplier - Volnogorsky GOK, OJSC. VSMPO-AVISMA has also found an alternative carnallite supplier whose name is kept a secret.

According to Mikhail Voevodin, the quality of raw materials from the new sources complies with all the technological specifications of the corporation.
