VSMPO-Avisma is planning to manufacture profiles for Desiro high-speed trains

Representatives of Siemens conducted audit of environmental compatibility of production, quality systems and labor safety at the Verkhnyaya Salda Metallurgical Production Association.

The VSMPO-Avisma Corporation has informed "RusBusinessNews" that the audit was performed due to the expected manufacturing of extruded profiles for high-speed trains, the Desiro (Swallow) model. The Desiro trains are scheduled for manufacturing at the Ural Locomotives Joint Venture (49% of shares are owned by Siemens) located in the Sverdlovsk Region in 2013. By the end of 2011, VSMPO will manufacture extruded profile sample that will be tested at the joint venture and at the facilities of Siemens. If tests are successful, the companies will sign a supply agreement.

Under the order from the Ural Locomotives Joint Venture, the VSMPO-Avisma Corporation, in cooperation with the Alcoa Company, is planning to manufacture long (up to 26 meters) and wide (up to 700 millimeters) aluminum alloy extrusions.
