Russian Copper Company was presented with a certificate in honor of its nomination for an international mining award established by the Minex forum, called For the Development of the Russian Mining Industry.
At the Minex Russia 2011 Seventh International Mining Forum, which was held in Moscow, Russian Copper Company was nominated in the Investor of the Year category, honoring the fact that it is one of the top corporate investors in the mining industry.
Russian Copper Company's press office told RusBusinessNews that the company invested a total of $137.8 million in its mining projects in 2010. Specifically, much of those funds were spent to purchase and develop the Mikheevsky and Tominsky ore-mining and processing facilities. A total of about $1.3 billion was invested in those projects.
Once the two facilities are up and running, Russian Copper Company will be one of the biggest players in the market for copper concentrates in Central Asia and China. Together, the Mikheevsky and Tominsky facilities will be able to process 50% more ore than all the copper ore mined in Mongolia.
