|  | One Third Drop in Sverdlovsk Oblast Imports  20.04.2009 — News THE SVERDLOVSK OBLAST. In January - March 2009, the Sverdlovsk Oblast exports to China dropped 79.1% compared to the first quarter of the previous year. Just as serious is the decrease in exports to Hungary (87.6%), the Netherlands (86.6%), India (69.8%) and Great Britain (53.9%). The Urals Customs Directorate informed RusBusinessNews that in monetary terms exports have shrunk 36%, mainly due to the decrease of prices for Russian goods. Imports have also reduced by a third; the situation is that the physical volumes have diminished and the contract prices rose at the same time. In January - March 2009 imports from Italy fell 75%, from Great Britain - 73.8%, China - 49.6%, and Poland - 48.7%. On the whole, January - March 2009 export-import cargo through the Ekaterinburg Customs amounted to 625,000 tons or $1.2 billion with the exports dominating (76%). |
