Zimmer will buy titanium directly from VSMPO

Representatives from the American company Zimmer will hold an audit of the VSMPO-AVISMA Corporation, OJSC.

The corporation’s press office told RusBusinessNews that this review will be conducted under a program from the US Food and Drug Administration. The goal of the audit is to avoid the use of intermediaries in the company's dealings with VSMPO.

Zimmer currently produces a wide range of orthopedic products, supplying 120 countries with prosthetic hips, shoulders, and elbow joints, as well as products used in spine surgery and operations to repair broken bones. For the last 10 years the company has been using subcontractors to purchase titanium from Verkhnaya Salda, but in the near future it intends to begin working under direct contracts.
