Magnitogorsk is placing its bets on event and industrial tourism

An interregional tourism forum took place in Magnitogorsk from Nov. 22-23, 2012, dedicated to cooperation between the regions of the Urals and the Volga Federal District. The event drew about 90 participants from Yugra, the Chelyabinsk, Kurgan, and Sverdlovsk regions, as well as the Republic of Bashkortostan.

RusBusinessNews in the administration of Magnitogorsk reported that the guests were shown the opportunities for industrial and event tourism in the municipality. They visited local monuments and one of the production facilities of Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works, OJSC, and also familiarized themselves with the operations of the ski resorts.

Magnitogorsk is one of the cultural, business, and industrial hubs of the Chelyabinsk region. The prominent ski resorts, Abzakovo and Metallurg-Magnitogorsk, as well as the historical and cultural nature reserve Arkaim, are all located close to the city.
