Kurgan Industrial Sector Reports Losses

THE KURGAN OBLAST.

In Q1 2009, industrial production in the Kurgan Oblast fell by 7.4% down to 13 billion Roubles. The share of loss-making companies in the region rose to 46%.

As the regional government officials told RusBusinessNews, earnings of large and medium-sized companies fell by 3.5 times, down to 145 million Roubles. Demand has notably shrunk for the products of Kurgan Bus Plant OAO, Zavod Start OAO, Shadrinsk Automotive Components Plant OAO, and Shadrinsk Transportation Machinery Plant OAO.

Going forward, the situation in the industry may improve. Sintez Pharmaceutical Plant is expected to reach 100% of its 2008 production. Kurgan Bus Plant plans to build 2 thousand buses by the end of the year.
