RUDEA to Help Russia Cut Energy Losses

29.04.2009 — News

THE SVERDLOVSK OBLAST.

The Sverdlovsk Oblast will become one of the first Russian regions to implement the Russian-German Energy Agency (RUDEA) projects. RUDEA was founded by the Russia's Hydrocarbon Energy Fund that holds a 51% stake, and Germany's Deutsche Energie-Agentur GmbH (DENA) with 49%.

The founders contributed a start-up capital of 4 million Euro. Going forward, private investments will be raised to finance the agency's projects. RUDEA will take part in the industrial facilities overhaul, implementing efficient technologies in the high energy-consumption segments. It will help cut energy losses in heat and power generation and transportation.

As the Sverdlovsk Oblast government representatives informed RusBusinessNews, Germany's Siemens will be involved in implementing energy-saving technologies in the region. The German company, the Russian Ministry of Energy, and the Oblast Government have signed a cooperation agreement in February 2009.
