THE CHELYABINSK OBLAST.

In H2 2009, OAO Chelyabinsk Mechanical Plant is starting production of new Chelyabinets cranes that will compete with the Japanese and German models. The first delivery of the large-tonnage capacity cranes will be made to the Near East and Central Asia.

As the plant representatives informed RusBusinessNews, the Near East customers were interested in truck cranes for city use with capacity of up to 40 tonnes. Three other models were developed for use on unprepared sites and in adverse climatic conditions.

At the "Construction technologies and machinery" exhibition, the biggest of its kind in the Eastern Europe, which will be held in Moscow on June 2-6, 2009, the plant will present the first in Russia hydraulic track crane with the capacity of up to 36 tonnes. The plant also launches a new 15-tonne capacity portable crane, made to the specifications developed by Uralmashzavod OAO. This crane is a part of the drilling unit that Uralmashzavod produces for the oil-and-gas industry.

As far as functionality and technical characteristics, Chelyabinets cranes can compete with foreign-made machines, while the prices are 70 to 200% lower. The new models will compete with Japan's Hitachi, Tadano, Kobelco and Germany's Liebherr. The plant's annual output is about 500 cranes.
