THE SVERDLOVSK OBLAST.
A joint venture will be established on the basis of ZAO Automobiles and Motors of the Urals (AMUR); it will produce special-purpose vehicles for the Russian Federation Ministry of Emergencies. This was announced by Minister Sergei Shoigu during his visit to Ekaterinburg on 27 May 2009.
A similar company has already been established in Moscow with Rosenbauer International AG (Austria), one of the world's largest fire-fighting machines producers. Vehicles for the Ministry of Emergencies are assembled on ZiL and KAMAZ chassis. The Ministry plans to partner with more Western companies with a purpose to launch assembly facilities in the Urals, and provide its branches in Siberia and Far East with special purpose vehicles.
As the plant representatives informed RusBusinessNews, partnership with foreign companies will allow AMUR to equip the chassis it produces with the cutting-edge attachments. Situated in Novouralsk, the plant is ready to satisfy any volume of demand from the Russian Federation Ministry of Emergencies.
