Russia and Kazakhstan have signed an intergovernmental agreement in regard to the details of the excavation of copper-pyrite ores from the Vesenne-Aralchinskoye deposit located in the Orenburg (Russia) and Aktobe (Kazakhstan) regions. The mineral rights to that deposit belong to the subsidiaries of the Russian Copper Company Group. The signed document has removed all restrictions on RCC's activities in the border area.
RCC's press office told "РусБизнесНьюс" that they intend to work the Vesenne-Aralchinskoye deposit using underground mining methods. There are plans to build an underground mine with a capacity of up to 500 thousand tons of copper ore per year at the "Aralchinsky" section of the deposit located in Kazakhstan. Ore produced there will be processed by the the Aktyubinsk Copper Company. Raw materials from the Russian section of the deposit - the "Vesenny" site - will supply the Ormet, OJSC processing plant in the Orenburg region.
RCC Group is pursuing a number of major projects in the Aktyubinsk region (Kazakhstan). Total investment since their work began already amounts to more than 650 million USD. Within the next few years approximately another 360 million USD will be invested in those projects.
