SVERDLOVSK REGION

In 2015-2017 the Ural Mining and Metallurgical Company (UMMC) will allocate more than 2.09 billion rubles in the energy-efficiency program.

After Russia had joined WTO, UMMC encountered intense competition in terms of energy consumption. Based on this parameter, the company’s products were at a significant disadvantage as compared to products from the companies listed on the London Exchange.

The increased electricity tariffs also called for urgent measures. The annual savings expected through implementation of energy-efficiency projects will amount to about 770 million rubles, Vladimir Nechitailov, UMMC Energy Director, has informed RusBusinessNews.

In 2012-2014, the funds allocated by UMMC in energy-efficiency measures totaled about 9 billion rubles. The savings totaled approximately 860 million rubles.
