AVISMA supplies raw materials for producing scandium
11.02.2016 — News
AVISMA, a company located in Berezniki (a subsidiary of the VSMPO-AVISMA Corporation), takes part in the scandium production project. The project was spearheaded by Intermix Met, a Moscow-based company, which specializes in manufacturing of rare-metal master alloys, addition alloys and compounds.
AVISMA leased the vacant space of the 5th gas purification facility to the Moscow company for the production line where waste streams for scandium concentration are processed. In addition, AVISMA supplies wastewater containing the above metal.
As RusBusinessNews has been informed by the VSMPO-AVISMA Press Service, the first batch of products was received in December.
It should be noted that the scandium application field is quite wide and includes metallurgy, microelectronics, nuclear power engineering, and medicine. For example, scandium is very popular as an additive to aluminum alloys, which improves their physical and mechanical properties.
