Indian Prime Minister Arrived In Ekaterinburg for Truce with President of Pakistan

15.06.2009 — News

THE SVERDLOVSK OBLAST.

In the evening of 15 June Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh arrived in Ekaterinburg. On Tuesday he will attend the first full-scale meeting of BRIC (Brazil, India, Russia, and China) leaders.

The BRIC meeting in Ekaterinburg is expected to result in the adoption of a joint statement of the four countries' leaders that will reflect the common vision of the current stage of the global development, the outlook for the international cooperation in the interest of overcoming global challenges and strengthening the international stability and security.

However, as RusBusinessNews was informed by diplomatic sources, the key event of 16 June can be the meeting of Manmohan Singh with Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari who arrived in Ekaterinburg on Sunday. Both leaders haven't seen each other over half a year since the day of the Mumbai slaughter.

The Kremlin makes no secret of the fact that they are proud of Russia being the place of reconciliation between two countries and, to a certain extent, playing the role of a guarantor for maintaining good-neighbourly relations between India and Pakistan.
