For the second year, students of MGIMO (Moscow State Institute of International Relations) receive the VSMPO-AVISMA’s corporate scholarship. The initiative comes from Mikhail Shelkov, Deputy Chairman of the company's Board of Directors and a member of the university's Board of Trustees, and Anatoly Torkunov, Rector of the university. Over 1.4 million rubles were allocated to support seven students, as previously.

Furthermore, Mikhail Shelkov has resolved to expand cooperation with the university from the current academic year, which has been enshrined in a new strategic partnership agreement. Internships, joint events, educational programs, and other opportunities are available for active students, as RusBusinessNews informs.

"The Strategic Partnership Agreement is a new stage in the development of cooperation between MGIMO and VSMPO-AVISMA. I firmly believe that corporate scholarships are a good incentive for students to develop their potential. MGIMO has been focusing on cooperation with specialized companies for many years now. This gives us the opportunity to constantly improve our programs so that they remain relevant and meet the current needs of the labor market," said Anatoly Torkunov, Rector of MGIMO.

"I remember myself as a student and can well imagine how much effort and time studying demands from young people. This presents many of them with a difficult choice: study and defer work to senior years, or earn but sacrifice their student life. I think we can solve this dilemma and leave them time for competitions and Olympiads, learning languages, demanding disciplines, and developing flexible skills. Together with MGIMO and MIPT (Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology), we want to do it in a way that would allow students from all over the country to count on our support," said Mikhail Shelkov. The businessman is also a partner in the Phystech Union at MIPT. This year, Phystech students have received personal scholarships and laptops from Shelkov for their studies.

Nadezhda Dzyuba (2 Department of Applied Economics and Commerce), Nigel Lee (4 Institute of International Relations and Administration), Daria Pankova (4 International Economic Relations), Polina Sapozhnikova (2 Institute for International Trade and Sustainable Development), Anastasia Stepina (3 International Economic Relations), Ekaterina Suchkova (3 International Institute for Energy Policy and Diplomacy) and Amin Fogel (4 Institute of International Relations and Administration) became winners of the monthly scholarship of VSMPO-AVISMA Corporation, PJSC at MGIMO. The payments will amount to 20,000 rubles. When selecting candidates, their academic performance and participation in the university's research and public activities were taken into account, as the press service of the corporation reported.

More than 700 students of MGIMO are currently receiving scholarships.

"The substantial financial support paid to the scholarship recipients has become an important resource for self-development, personal growth, and enhancement of professional skills and competencies. I was able to use the money to study more foreign languages, buy necessary books, travel to an academic conference and take a summer trip to Karelia," said Nikita Flegontov, a last-year scholarship recipient.

Danil Grinyuk thanks VSMPO-AVISMA for the financial support, which for him was "a significant recognition of his professional achievements and his work inside and outside the university." He used the scholarship to improve his qualifications in the financial and energy sectors.

Another 2021/2022 scholarship recipient, Andrei Papushkin, said the VSMPO-AVISMA awards gave him the opportunity to begin his career in the investment field. He was able to build his first portfolio and put into practice the theory he had learned at the university.
