“The TIRUS SKILLS championship has been taking place in Verkhnyaya Salda for three years. It began as a project aimed at school pupils only and has now expanded to include students from across the Sverdlovsk Region. I’m pleased to see the growing prestige of technical trades; we must keep supporting this trend. We’re already thinking about taking TIRUS SKILLS beyond educational institutions and perhaps even beyond our region,” said Dmitry Trifonov, CEO of VSMPO-AVISMA Corporation, PJSC.
“The Sverdlovsk Region Ministry of Education supports corporate skill championships because they strengthen the system of secondary vocational education. Letting schoolchildren compete alongside students aids early career guidance. We thank VSMPO-AVISMA and the Empathy Foundation for organizing the championship and for their ongoing support of the movement,” added Svetlana Tretikhina, Sverdlovsk Region Minister of Education.

Speakers included Yulia Polshina (Deputy Minister of Industry and Science of the Sverdlovsk Region), Elena Kovalenko (Head of Vocational Education & Teacher Training Policy at the regional Ministry of Education), and senior managers of the corporation.
In May 2024, VSMPO-AVISMA signed a staffing-cooperation agreement with the Industry and Science Ministry and Education Ministry of the Sverdlovsk Region, as well as local secondary vocational institutions. The accord aims to develop human-resource potential, scientific-technical and innovative activity — notably by training qualified employees for the most in-demand trades and specialties — and to raise the prestige of technical professions.
