On June 21–22, Verkhnyaya Salda will host the Russian Sidecar Motocross Championship for motorcycles with 500 cc and 750 cc engines. The opening round will bring together more than 300 athletes from 30 cities. The event—dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War—is receiving organisational and financial backing from VSMPO-AVISMA Corporation.

The program includes sidecar races in the 500 National and 750 International classes. Among those entered are national champions Igor Rodionov (St. Petersburg), Artyom Boronenko (Yaroslavl), Igor Polukhin and Aleksandr Pupyshev (Kamensk-Uralsky), and Aleksandr Zyryanov with Yevgeny Ufimtsev (Irbit).

The host contingent will be fielded by riders from VSMPO-AVISMA’s corporate Tirus-Moto team: David Sadriyev, Artyom Ivanov, Dmitry Borovskikh, Mikhail Chelyshev, Alexey Nikolaev, Yegor Nikolaev, Daniil Sadriyev, Timofey Vlasov, Matvey Nikitin, Veronika Kazakova, Sergey Zubarev, and Denis Vlasov, as well as Aleksandr Selyanin and Artyom Sitdikov—winners of the 2024 Russian 500 cc sidecar motocross title, the corporation’s press service told RusBusinessNews.

"Opening the Russian Championship is a huge responsibility—the first round will set the bar for the entire series. We’re ready: with the Corporation’s support everything is in place for a large-scale event. The strongest riders from across Russia are coming to battle for medals on the country’s best track," said Pavel Ivanov, head of the Tirus-Moto club.

The race course in Verkhnyaya Salda was named "Sports Facility of 2024" in Russia. To earn this status, the venue had to meet stringent criteria covering track preparation, infrastructure and amenities for riders, officials and spectators, public-order and medical teams, spectator safety, and more.
