THE SVERDLOVSK OBLAST.
Oleg Sienko, the Director General of OAO NPK Uralvagonzavod (Ural Railway Car Plant) and Igor Sevastyanov, a Deputy Director General of FGUP Rosoboronexport, on the first day of Russian Expo Arms-2009 exhibition have signed the Agreement on continuing to install the French Thales Optionic cameras on tanks T-90S made for export. These cameras are the main component of the fire direction control system.
The company informed RusBusinessNews that Rosoboronexport is an intermediary between the Uralvagonzavod and Thales Optionic entering into contracts with both parties.
The French cameras have been installed for the first time on tanks T-90S purchased by the Indian Government. Rosoboronexport is currently preparing another large contract (for about a billion roubles) to ship several hundred tanks T-90S to Turkmenistan. This is why a new contract for the supply of the French instruments had to be signed. The contract sum or the number of cameras that will be supplied has not been publicised.
