THE SVERDLOVSK OBLAST.
FGUP (Federal State Unitary Enterprise) PO Ural Optical and Mechanical Plant will be supplying spare parts for the Su-30MKM fighter jets to Malaysia. The contract worth some million US dollars will be signed in Kuala Lumpur on 20 July 2009.
The plant is an independent subject of the military-technical collaboration since 2003. This lets the plant without the participation from Rosoboronexport to supply spare parts abroad and to carry out all types of repairs to optical and electronic systems made by the plant.
The company informed RusBusinessNews that in 2008 the income from the military-technical collaboration amounted to 30 million US dollars. Military equipment manufacture, repair, and maintenance make up 75% of the production at the Ural Optical and Mechanical Plant.
Su-30MKM is a version of the Russian fighter jet Su-30, made especially for Malaysia.
