THE SVERDLOVSK OBLAST.
The RF Government will put together a work plan - a joint one for all defense design bureaus - for the manufacturing of armoured force vehicles, engines, and ammunition. The forthcoming stocktaking will make it possible to determine Russia's defence doctrine development strategy.
This was the announcement that Prime Minister Vladimir Putin made in Nizhniy Tagil; he arrived there on 8 December 2009 to discuss the state's supportive measures for the country's defence industry. His visit to the Sverdlovsk Oblast was accompanied by Defence Minister Anatoly Serdyukov, Deputy Prime Minister Sergei Ivanov, and head of Rostechnologii (Russian Technologies State Corporation) Sergei Chemezov.
The RusBusinessNews correspondent has reported that the T-90A tank, which is to replace the T-90C currently in operational service with the Russian army, was demonstrated to Vladimir Putin at the testing grounds and in the workshop of OAO NPK Uralvagonzavod (Open Joint Stock Company Science and Production Corporation Ural Railway Car Plant). Prime Minister paid special attention to the T-90-based tank support combat vehicle created in Nizhniy Tagil.
The vehicle is fitted with two 30-mm dual-fed cannons, four anti-tank guided missile launchers, a heavy machine gun, and two grenade launchers. It has a maximum engagement range of 5 kilometres. The so-called reactive armour enhances the survivability of the vehicle.
According to Vladimir Putin's words, the state will support OAO NPK Uralvagonzavod which is the leading plant within Russia's armoured force holding that consists of 19 plants. In 1Q 2010 its authorised capital will receive 10 billion roubles from the federal budget.
