THE CHELYABINSK OBLAST.
The State Corporation "Rosnanotekhnologii" (Russian Nano Technologies) might become a co-investor in the construction of the rail and structural steel mill at OJSC "Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant". It should be commissioned in the end of 2010.
The production capacity of the new mill will exceed one million tons of rails and structural shapes per year. The latest state of the art technologies will be used in the process of production of high quality railway rails up to 100 metres long. Danieli will supply the key technological equipment. The investments into the project amount to almost 500 million US dollars. The State Corporation "Rosnanotekhnologii" informed RusBusinessNews that the investment proposal is being considered.
The implementation of the project will be carried out within the framework of the contract between OJSC "Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant" and JSC "Russian Railways" for supplying rail products in 2010-2030. "Mechel" Group, of which OJSC "Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant" is a part, once the mill is operating, will become the first Russian manufacturer of long-measuring rails whose several parameters will exceed the world's best which is dictated by Russia's climate conditions.
