The table tennis champion of the Athens Olympics Chen Qi is now playing for the team of the Ural Mining and Metallurgical Company. Next season the Chinese player will participate in the struggle for the victory in the European Champions League Cup.
The press service of the company informed RusBusinessNews that the UMMC club also signed a contract with Hao Shuai, the Chinese bronze medallist of the 2009 World Cup. Together with the 2009 European Champion Michael Maze from Denmark, the Chinese will make up the backbone of the team which will be representing Russia in the European club tournament.
In the season of 2009-2010 the UMMC team reached the quarter finals in the European Champions League. The Belgian Royal Villette Charleroi put a stop to the Urals club's progress. As a result the Croatian Zoran Primorac, the Austrian Robert Gardos, and the South Korean Kim Jung Hoon who have not managed to live to the expectations lost contracts with UMMC.
