The Kurgan Oblast

The Kurgan Oblast is located on the border of the Urals and Siberia. Total area: 71.5 thousand square kilometres. Population: 960 thousand people.
The administrative centre of the region - the city of Kurgan - is 3 hours flight away from Moscow.

The soils of the Kurgan Oblast are very fertile. More than 60% of the oblast's territory (4.5 million hectares) is farming land used primarily for growing cereal crops.

Uranium ore is amongst the mineral resources found here; local industry includes the machine-building facilities working for the military industrial complex.
