Executive power

A Governor is the highest ranking official in the Oblast; Oleg Alekseyevich Bogomolov has been the Oblast Governor since 1996, he is the Head of the Oblast Government.

Born 4 October 1950. Education: The Kurgan Machine Building Institute. 1984 - a Communist Party High School. 1972 - 1975 - Kurgan Machine Building Plant, Secretary of the LYCLSU (Leninist Young Communist League of the Soviet Union) Committee. 1975 - 1981 - the Commander of the Kurgan Oblast Student Construction Detachment. 1981 - 1992 - an instructor of the Kurgan Oblast Committee of CPSU (Communist Party of the Soviet Union), the Secretary of the Party Committee of PSMO Kurgantyazhstroi, the Chairman of the Oktyabrski District Executive Committee of the city of Kurgan. 1992 - 1994 - the Chairman of the Kurgan Oblast Soviet of People's Deputies. 1994 -1996 - the Chairman of the Kurgan Oblast Duma. From 1996 - the Governor of the Kurgan Oblast.

The Kurgan Oblast Duma is the highest body of authority of the legislative power in the region. Vladimir Kazakov is the Duma Chairman.
